Subject/Spaces traces the quiet architecture of perception through sixty abstract monochrome images of twelve iconic buildings across the world.

Through shifts in light, form, and framing, Larry Halff explores how attention transforms the built environment, how a conscious gaze turns architecture into experience. Guided by the heightened sensory awareness of an autistic artist, the series invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and consider how perception builds the spaces we inhabit.

An entropy-based algorithmic sequence orders the images from most to least visually complex, creating a quiet narrative of how structure resolves into stillness and how perceptual load shapes our experience of space.

Designed by Pablo Mandel of Circular Studio, the book re-imagines Halff’s series as a new artifact: an object of stillness and rhythm, created for those who find beauty in structure, shadow, and restraint.
